We sang this song at school when I was in the 5th grade, 1968: "Valerie, valera, valera, a a a, from every mountain side." It wasn't any of the patriotic songs that keep popping up. Anybody? Thx.
I love to go a wandering along the mountain track and as I go a wandering my knapsack on my back. Valderie. Or something like this. Maybe from sound of music. Maybe called the happy wanderer.
Paul Bray..You nailed it. I mixed the "from every mountain side" part up with "my knapsack on my back". I listened to someone sing it on YouTube, The Happy Wanderer. Thanks for the help. That's been nagging at me for 55 years. Ugh.
