matt groening is from oregon. there are streets in portland oregon called flanders and other shit like that. i go to the university of oregon, and our neighboring town is springfield. it is a hick type of town. eugene, where campus is, is supposed to represent shelblyville. on our campus there is a statue of a pioneer, which i believe was the inspiration for jeb smith the pioneer. the areas are always green and oregon is the most green state in the country. seriously, its oregon. this is where groening grew up.
